I was born into a broken home. I’m the oldest of 4 siblings. I have 2 younger brothers and 1 younger sister. my dad was very verbally abusive and only 1 time was he physically abusive (to me the majority of the time). I inherited OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), clinical depression and a small form of Tourette’s syndrome from my mom’s side of the family.
My mom has bipolar disorder, so she has been my “bodyguard” because she never judges me because I don’t “look” or “seem” mentally disabled. many people have had the nerve to tell me to deny I have mental illness. well, if I denied that, I would only be hurting myself. So, I have mega trust issues with people because they judge me.
Anyways, my dad divorced my mom when I was 12, my once whole, happy family was destroyed that very day. I thought I would never see my dad again. I felt completely abandoned, I was overwhelmed. my youngest brother was even angry and jealous that Jake (my half-brother, long story behind that) had OUR dad as a full-time father and we didn’t. Today, that still angers me.
My mom and I (we are both Christians btw) were having dinner at Pizza Hut. I don’t have any memory of what we talked about, but after we got into the car, my mom asked me if I wanted to invite Jesus into my life. I accepted Jesus Christ into my life that night – 3 years after my dad left us.
Ever since that day, God has revealed many things to me as to why things happened, I still long to know more answers, but God says no. I accept that now.
My favorite Christian singer is Britt Nicole, her song, All This Time, is also my Salvation story.
Amen!!!
Dear Allyson Hill Praise our Lord Jesus,
Good to hear that , though the suffering you have finally found the most precious thing in the world and that’s Salvation in Jesus Christ. The Bible is God’s plan for developing the most important relationship in our lives. When we accept God’s gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, we enter into communion with the Creator of the universe. God Almighty becomes our Heavenly Father and He places His Holy Spirit within us. Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as the “Counselor” (John 14:16), whose presence would guide us into all truth (John 16:13). The Apostles Paul and John said God’s Spirit would fill believers with assurance of our membership in God’s family (Romans 8:16;I John 14:13). Day by day, through prayer and Bible reading, we can experience the wonderful fellowship that God wants to have with each of His children.
He loves you the most and fill the missing gap. God bless.
amen Rose!!!!
