Boyfriend and Girlfriend in Sunset Holding Hands

Through Him, I Was Encouraged To Seek Him

Unbeknownst to myself, I met a male late August. I’m 19 and he’s 22.

To cut things short, we got close really quickly and are still close to this day. We both obviously have things we need to work on separately, especially our walks with Christ, however with faith this will happen.

Anyways, one thing I’ve learned recently is that God will meet us at whatever point in our lives and he understands that he must be patient with our walk. He understands that we fall into desires and ungodly situations but he is stilling willing to pick us up and lead us as long as we submit ourselves to him. God understands us individually as people, and he still continues to love us unconditionally.

Through the guy that I met in Summer 2013, who I genuinely believe will be my husband (based on a vision I had and other things), God has really taught me the important of putting GOD first and before anyone in this world. God should be your primary focus and you should ultimately put all your LOVE and TRUST into him. To the point where if God told you to break up with your boyfriend/girlfriend you would do it IMMEDIATELY because you trust that God is telling you to do this for a reason. God says that he will never leave you nor forsake you and we must seek comfort in this.

My boyfriend and I are far from perfect and have clearly been affected from our previous relationships meaning the way we deal with situations are not always the most effective. Recently I decided to take a fast from him for a week as i felt that my relationship with God needed to be strengthened, and this was the BEST thing that could’ve happened to me! Every day I was reading my word, listening to sermons, praying, fasting, everything I could do to have a stronger personal relationship with my God.

The first two days were the most difficult days I’ve ever experienced since giving my life to Christ in May, however by the third day I was learning about praying in Spirit and spoke in tongues for the first time! I cried out to my merciful God, I was so grateful for his blessing, that I had finally learnt how to pray in the spirit and seek God completely.

In the following couple of days, I had a vision. I didn’t know much about visions prior to having one, however earlier in the day I was praying that God would give me one, I needed clarity, and I was praying that he would give me clarity in this way. I was praying for such a blessing because of the strong desire I have to know God in all ways. God listened and sent me a vision that same night.

The point in this testimony, is that God understood my love for people and my strong desire to help and love people. I believe that God clearly decided that through the love, patience and resilience I have with my boyfriend he would encourage me to seek Him with even more love, patience and resilience. DO NOT FORGET our God is a jealous God (Deuteronomy 6:15) we should not follow any of the gods around us, let alone flesh! God does not want to you love anymore more than you love Him!

I have a love for God that I didn’t even know I was capable of giving, I find it so hard to string sentences together whenever I talk about it!

What we must understand is that God puts people into our lives for a reason, whether good or bad, his aims are to enhance us through the situations that we go through. God will sometimes use those people who influence you the most, to help you become a better Christian and so we should never fear what God does in regard to our relationships. It is all for a purpose.

To finish with some scripture:

Romans 12:6 – 8:

“In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”

Hebrews 10:23:

“Let us hold tightly to the hope we profess, for He who has promised is faithful”

– If God has told you or promised you something, he means it. He will not go back on his word. He is faithful to His word so hold tightly to His word and believe that it will come!

I cannot wait to read over this in the future and add to it! This is the first testimony I’ve written, and it feels absolutely great to share the work of our good God.

God bless you all!
