I want to give all the glory to God Almighty for my success in the USMLE Step 1 examination. The USMLE is the United States Medical Licensing Examination for physicians in the United States. I did my examination in August 2016, and I made a vow to God to share my testimony to encourage others if he grants me success.
Before I go into the story of my examination, I would like to share a bit of my background so that you can have a better understanding of my journey and story. I did my medical training in Nigeria, and I practiced as a physician in Nigeria for about three years, after which I decided to relocate to the USA with the aim of getting into medical residency, and obtaining a Masters of Public Health degree with a concentration in Biostatistics (MPH). I needed to pass the USMLE examinations to apply for medical residency as a foreign medical graduate in the US. An MPH degree requires me getting an offer of admission into an accredited college.
I relocated to the USA about three years ago, and I got admitted into a postgraduate college in Texas for my MPH degree. It was very challenging combining studying for my MPH program and at the same time also preparing for USMLE. To be candid, I had only very little time to study for the medical licensing exam. However, I persevered and trusted God.
During the summer break of 2015, I decided not to register for any class in school for me to have ample time to study for the USMLE Step 1 examination. I studied and worked so hard over the four months of the summer break so that I can take the exam before school resumes in the fall. Just while I was hoping to sit for the exam in a few weeks’ time, tragedy struck. I live in an apartment complex, and till date, I do not know what went wrong in my neighbor’s apartment. However, I just realized there was fire coming out of the roof of my neighbor’s apartment. Sixteen apartments got burnt down including mine on that fateful night. It was a devastating experience, and as a result, I was homeless for weeks. I thank God because I escaped unhurt and no one died from the fire accident. We lost material things, but God replaced them all.
The fire incident affected my USMLE preparation, and I had to cancel the examination as I was not in the right state of mind to take the examination as at that time. I completed my MPH coursework for the fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters, and I started studying for the USMLE examination again in the summer of 2016. I bless the name of the Lord for giving me success in the examination. I had a score of 235 which is a very good score for my desired area of specialization. I also want to thank God for granting me academic success in my MPH program, I have been on scholarship since I started the program and I am due to graduate this spring 2017 semester. Of a truth, HE is a faithful God.
That is wonderful, I am so happy for you! To God be all the glory forever and ever amen! Please, I ask that you pray for me as well, I am also in medical school. Please have me in your prayers! I have a very tough exam coming up in medical school. The exam is over the gastrointestinal system. I need to pass this exam to move on to the next year otherwise I will have to add another year to my degree. I rebuke this from my life in Jesus name, it is not my portion. I will finish my degree in due time and I will pass my exams with flying colors. I am scheduled to graduate in 2021 and I will graduate in 2021 in Jesus name. I know the enemy is working very hard against me to make me weak physically, mentally, and spiritually. I call on the mighty name of Jesus to intercede on my behalf and destroy the plans of the enemy against my life in Jesus name. I will pass all my exams in Jesus name. I declare success over my life in Jesus name. I am the head and not the tail in Jesus name. I know that all good things work out for those who love the Lord in Jesus name. And as I have said it so will it be for me in Jesus name. Please continue to pray for me and include of all these prayer points in Jesus name.
