Never Underestimate God – (A Maritime Testimony)

I would like to share a testimony of how God worked in an impossible situation in my life.

My sister is working in Australia and had come home for a two-month vacation for her wedding. Her wedding was fixed for June 8, so it was very important that I reach home on time.

In April, I was on a vessel in Australian waters, expecting to reach Korea by mid-April. Due to severe weather, we were delayed for almost a month, and two berthing attempts failed.

Everything seemed to be going against us. After many delays, our vessel finally reached Korean waters on May 30, but the port initially informed us that we might not berth until after June 15. My family started fasting and praying because the wedding could not be postponed again.

Then God opened a door. The port gave us a berthing date of June 5, despite many vessels waiting for berths.

But another problem came. On June 1, both gyrocompasses failed. Entering the Korean river without proper heading information was extremely risky. On June 3, while approaching the port, the pilot discovered the problem and initially refused to take the vessel inside. We were told there was almost a 99.9% chance the port would refuse permission.

I prayed again, remembering the Bible verse God had given me that night. I trusted Him even though I could not see a solution.

After about 10 minutes, the port authority decided to allow our vessel to berth with additional safety precautions and reduced river traffic.

God made a way where there seemed to be no way.

The vessel safely berthed, I signed off in Korea, and I was able to reach home and attend my sister’s wedding on June 8.

Through this experience, I learned:

Never underestimate God. What looks impossible to us is possible for Him. When everything is against you, pray. When the answer seems delayed, keep trusting. When you are under pressure, let God’s Word guide you, not your emotions, wealth, power, or own understanding.
