I was raised in a family that was semi-religious. I would say 1/2 of my family was atheist or agnostic and 1/2 was Christian. My childhood was not the best, but my mother did her best as a single parent of two. One night when she was getting ready to pray before bed I had a supernatural experience. She was wanting to pray and I as a 6-year-old kid wanted to jump on the bed and not lay down. The room was rather dark, and she told me to stop and I did not.
At that moment something that I could not physically see grabbed me by my right arm and pulled it backwards under the bed away from my mom. I screamed and it let go and I frantically tried to explain to my mom that a hand grabbed me. My mother thought I was lying and ignored it but at that moment I believed something demonic was in the house. This was the first of many supernatural encounters I had in my life.
The next event was at 9 years old, and it was me hearing a demon speak to me about a death of a young boy named Brett in the living room of my friend’s home. This demon told me that I would never see him again and if I had anything to say to him, I better say it now (this was not an audible voice it was a thought placed in my mind by the same energy that made me nauseous and I encountered prior). I was very freaked out and disturbed by this and didn’t say anything to Brett or anyone at that time. I also had a sense of fear about it.
Brett killed himself with a shotgun not long after this incident. It was tragic and family mourned his loss. No one knew why a 13-year-old boy would kill himself. I went through a guilt spiral thinking you should have talked to him you could have stopped this. At the time I did not know this was a demonic energy that was following me and trying to bring death and destruction to everyone near me but also to my life, but soon would.
After this another tragic event would happen while at a neighbor’s house while staying with a friend while my mom was at work. We were visiting the neighbor to go swimming in their pool. I didn’t know how to swim. The homeowner went inside to get some food. Her friend was very drunk, and this demon possessed this woman, and her eyes went black and she lunged at me grabbed me by my hair and dragged me across the concrete and she threw me in the pool and started intentionally drowning me.
I knew I could not overpower her being 9 years old and that I couldn’t swim to get out of the deep end even if I got away from her, so I didn’t fight her. I gave up in that moment and I prayed,
“Jesus, if you’re real, save me! I don’t want to die!”
Then out of nowhere another woman jumped in the pool punched the other woman in the face and rescued me! I do not know how long I was under the water but I know it felt like a long time and I remember it vividly almost like time slowed down. This was the 1st of many events that made me believe Jesus was real and he would save me if I called on him!
As I grew older, I considered myself agnostic but still lead a life of sin because I let the world influence me in my younger years. I had a lot of trauma and I struggled with coping in healthy ways at times. I started smoking and drinking alcohol frequently. I was actively sinning and forming unhealthy relationships. I unfortunately lost a few friends to drugs over the years.
I battled with social anxiety for many years and would often drink to cope with anxiety. While I wasn’t an alcoholic I still drank to the point of being drunk regularly. After losing some unhealthy relationships and having a miscarriage right after graduating high school. I was praying for God to bless me with a husband. I meet my husband in 2011, and we grew close and married in 2013.
Over time and other experiences my husband and I began to go back to church.
Fast Forward to 2018… My pastor preached a sermon that resonated with me deeply. He said that many people will sit in Church; Sunday, after Sunday and still go to Hell because they have pride in their hearts and never repent. They never truly let Jesus into their hearts, and they never have an intimate relationship with him. This was a message I had never heard before and I desperately needed. I had prayed the sinner’s prayer before, but I never invited Jesus into my heart. This message stayed on my mind.
I was very distraught over the recent passing of my Cat Boba. I had a horrible week and felt like I was always fighting a never-ending battle in life. After recounting what my pastor had said and through all of my life experiences, I realized it was a spiritual battle for my soul.
It was pouring down rain and violently storming outside, I was crying in my car, and I had to bring in this 6-foot table from my SUV. I remember praying and confessing that Jesus died on the cross, rose from the grave for my sins and asking Jesus for forgiveness of my sinful and prideful heart in a prayer of repentance. I realized that I was no different than any of those people that my pastor had mentioned in Church. I knew my life had been full of gloom and darkness. I asked God to remove the clouds of evil and darkness from my life!
Then suddenly the thick black clouds and lightning instantly stopped, and Jesus parted the clouds like a zipper in the sky. It reminded me of God parting the Red Sea for Moses. They moved so quickly that water was suspended in the air and small specks of clouds could be seen still floating above. A rainbow appeared and all of this happened while I physically felt the presence of the Holy Spirit descending upon me. It was the best day of my life.
It was at this moment in my life that I had no doubt that Jesus was Lord and Christ! I felt the peace of the Lord!
This was the beginning of my walk with the Spirit of the Lord. I later learned that I had a strong spiritual gift of discernment of demonic spirits among others from a young age.
Later I helped my husband grow in his relationship with Jesus and he put his faith in Christ, and we were both baptized together.
Over the last 6 years Jesus has helped me overcome my sin of drinking, gossiping, pride, and he has healed me from my past traumas. He continues to prune me and grow me for his purpose to lift others up to him. He has called me to exalt his name! I am not a preacher, but I will exalt his name and gospel! Jesus Saves!
I share this testimony to encourage you to be bold in your faith and to surrender to Jesus your flesh to be crucified with Jesus so you can be made righteous by the blood of Christ and live for Him and not Man! The gift Jesus gives is eternal life and he gives it through Faith and not works alone. I pray for your salvation and redemption!
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13
God Bless.
