He Always Hears Our Prayers

I have always wanted to become a nurse since I was a child. In 2022, I graduated from high school. After graduation, however, I did not know how or where to enroll because most of the schools near us were private institutions. We are not wealthy, but my parents have always been able to provide for our needs. I can honestly say that we are very lucky and blessed to have them as our parents. They are willing to do everything they can to provide for us.

My father worked as an OFW, but his salary was not that high. He had also been suffering from a long-term back condition, and there was always a possibility that he would have to come home if the pain became too much for him to bear. When I learned about his condition, I began to question whether I should pursue the course I had always wanted because nursing school is quite expensive. Unfortunately, I missed the scholarship opportunity offered by the school where I originally planned to enroll.

Despite that, my father encouraged me to continue pursuing nursing, so I enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. However, I could not stop thinking about whether my father would be able to handle the financial burden. Because of that, I started having second thoughts. I decided to be practical for the time being. I told myself that I was still young and that I could always go back to school and pursue nursing in the future.

I returned to our province and enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program. It was very far from my dream course. Honestly, I struggled because I had no background in business. I studied for three months, but as time went on, I gradually lost motivation. Eventually, I dropped all my subjects. Before making that decision, I informed my parents, and I believe they understood my situation, which is why they agreed. After that, I returned to Bulacan and stopped studying for a while.

I decided to wait until the next year’s scholarship application period. I went back to the school where I had initially enrolled in nursing to process my requirements. However, when I arrived at the finance office, I was informed that I still had an outstanding balance of 24,000 and that I needed to settle it before I could take the scholarship examination.
I asked them why I had an outstanding balance, and they explained that it was because I had previously enrolled there. I told them that I had never attended a single class. They informed me that I still needed to pay because I had not officially processed my withdrawal from the school.

As I walked down the stairs, I cried. So many thoughts entered my mind. I kept asking myself, “What if I won’t be able to study again this year?” I felt like another year of my life would be wasted. In that moment, I prayed and asked the Lord for help. I did not have that amount of money, and I had no idea where I could get it.

I left the school building first while my mother stayed behind at the finance office. I had no idea what she was doing or why she chose to stay. I waited outside for about twenty minutes. When she finally came out, she looked relieved. I immediately asked her what had happened. She told me that she had spoken with the head of the finance office and had successfully convinced them to waive my outstanding balance.

The very first thing that came to my mind was to thank God. He has never failed me. It is true that He always hears our prayers, even the quiet whispers of our hearts. Because of that, I was able to take the scholarship examination, and by God’s grace, I passed. I had been praying for that opportunity for months because only a few students would be given the chance to receive the scholarship.

Now, I am entering my sophomore year, and I will always acknowledge God’s goodness in my life. He has given me far more than I ever asked for. Nursing is not an easy course, but I love what I am doing. Whenever I face difficulties, I remind myself that God gave me this opportunity because He knows that I can do it and that I can overcome every challenge. No matter how hard things become, I continue to draw near to Him. He faithfully listens to every prayer I offer, and all we have to do is keep our faith in Him.
God truly moves in mysterious ways.

PRAISE THE LORD!!!
