There are some things in my life that I can only explain by saying,
“Look what God has done.”
My journey has not always been easy. I have been a single mother raising two children, and there was a time when my children and I lived in a group home. I have experienced struggles, uncertainty, disappointment, and seasons when I had no idea how things were going to work out.
But one thing has remained consistent through every season:
God kept me.
When I was 23 years old, I was hit by a car and almost lost my life. One of my injuries was only about 1 centimeter away from a major artery. I needed 27 stitches in my thigh and 28 staples in my head.
Something that could have taken my life did not.
God kept me.
For years, I received housing assistance. There were times when owning a home seemed so far away from my reality that I couldn’t imagine how I would ever get there.
But God already knew the plans He had for me.
Fast-forward to 2026, and I decided to pursue homeownership. I started working on my credit, saving money, paying things down, dealing with things on my credit report, and doing everything I could to prepare myself.
And then I got pre-approved for a mortgage.
I was so excited, but that was only the beginning.
The home-buying process tested my faith in ways I wasn’t expecting. I found houses I loved that didn’t work out. One seller chose another offer over mine. Another house couldn’t work because of FHA requirements. There were delays and moments when I wondered why things weren’t happening according to MY timeline.
But God knew.
Eventually, I found another house.
A better house.
My offer was accepted.
Then came underwriting.
If you’ve ever purchased a home, you know how intense that process can feel. Documents, conditions, bank statements, explanations, appraisal, title work – every time I thought we were almost finished, it felt like there was something else.
Then something happened that could have completely discouraged me.
A Maryland state tax lien came up during the process.
I needed thousands of dollars to resolve it, and I didn’t know at first how I was going to handle it while still protecting the money I needed for my home purchase.
But once again…
God provided.
I was able to obtain the money I needed.
And that’s when I realized something even bigger.
My original closing date had been earlier.
At first, I didn’t understand why things had been delayed. I wanted MY timeline. I wanted everything to happen immediately.
But had everything happened according to my original timeline, I may not have had enough time to deal with the things that needed to be handled.
God knew what was ahead of me before I did.
What looked like a delay was actually preparation.
What felt like rejection was redirection.
What made me anxious was another opportunity for God to show me that He had already gone ahead of me.
There were nights when I worried.
There were days when I checked my phone constantly, afraid an email might come saying something had gone wrong.
There were moments when I was afraid to even let myself get excited because I thought, “What if something happens?”
But eventually I realized something:
God wasn’t asking me to live in fear of what might go wrong. He was teaching me to trust Him while things were going right.
So, I started allowing myself to be excited.
I started packing.
I started imagining my children in our new home.
And I started looking back over my life.
From living in a group home with my children…
From surviving an accident that could have killed me…
From years of housing assistance…
From rebuilding my credit and finances…
From rejected offers…
From delays…
From underwriting conditions…
From unexpected financial obstacles…
To purchasing my first home at 35 years old.
And through ALL of it, God provided.
I worked hard. I sacrificed. I worked long hours. I handled the paperwork. I made the phone calls. I faced things I would rather not have faced.
But I know where my strength came from.
God carried me.
There were so many times when I couldn’t see how everything was going to come together, yet somehow there was always another door, another provision, another solution, another reason to keep going.
So, if you’re reading this while you’re in a season where nothing seems to make sense, I want you to remember:
A delay does not mean God has forgotten you.
Sometimes you won’t understand why something didn’t happen until you see what God was protecting you from or preparing you for.
Keep praying.
Keep working.
Keep trusting.
Keep doing the right thing even when taking a shortcut seems easier.
And don’t let fear steal the joy of watching your prayers unfold.
I’m not sharing this because my life has been perfect.
I’m sharing it because it hasn’t been.
And yet…
GOD KEPT ME.
The same woman who once lived in a group home with her two children is now preparing to walk into a home of her own.
Not because the road was easy.
Not because everything happened exactly when I wanted it to.
But because through every chapter, every setback, every tear, every closed door and every unexpected provision…
God was faithful.
This house is more than a house to me.
It represents perseverance.
It represents restoration.
It represents provision.
It represents answered prayers.
And most importantly, it reminds me that God was with me through every single chapter that came before it.
All glory belongs to God.
My story isn’t, “Look what I did.”
My testimony is:
LOOK WHAT GOD HAS DONE.

I love your testimony!! “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.” (Isa. 65:24)
