My name is Melanie and I have recently been plagued with a terrible condition that medical science does not take seriously. I have a multitude of eye floaters after having Lasik eye surgery. My night vision is bad, and there are too many floaters in my eyes to simply ignore. Doctors keep telling me there is nothing I can do besides more risky surgery.
When I first found out what I had, I cried uncontrollably, I fell into a black hole of self hatred and regret. I am suffering everyday, I fear light, I even see these horrible things at night. I used to have perfect vision with the assistance of glasses, and out of selfishness, I went and had Lasik. It wasn’t necessary, and here I am with this “supposed” lifelong irritation.
I’m 22 years old, and I live with my parents. As a child, I very much believed in GOD. I would pray every night and beg my mom to take me to church every Sunday. I would read the bible even though I barely understood it. I would have conversations with the Lord and my deceased relatives/friends during my prayers. I was very in tune with a higher spiritual life. I would have what doctors claimed were “hallucinations”. I had recurring nightmares for years that to this day are unexplained, but I could retell them in detail! Years went by and throughout my teenage years, I lost touch with my spiritual life and my faith.
I just lived day by day and was too lazy to pray. Of course, after this surgery, when I need him most, is when I’m now calling on God again. I almost feel guilty for it, but at the same time, I feel like this happened to me to bring me closer to God again, even though I am suffering.
These eye floaters may not be a big deal to some people, but to those who have it as bad as I do, they know how stressful and depressing it can be. The worst part of it is that it’s not taken seriously. People like me are forced to deal with it. It’s like having dirt in your eyes and you so badly want to wash it out. Meanwhile someone is telling you,
“Too bad, live with it; it never goes away”.
I pray every day for a healing from God. One night, I prayed so hard and cried my eyes out, begging for the Lord to send me an angel…and…HE DID!
As I was laying in my bed that night, I was in the fetal position with my eyes closed. I was restlessly trying to sleep. Behind me I felt a presence, and I could hear my bed move (it creeks real loud) as if someone was trying to lay right behind me…I was frozen. I could not move, in my head I kept telling myself to relax and stay still…although I was desperate to turn around. After a few minutes, the noise repeated itself, and I felt this presence leave. I KNOW IT WAS MY ANGEL laying with me and comforting me. I fell right to sleep after that and only in the morning did I think about what had just happened.
That next day I kept thinking it was a dream. Three days later, a dove showed up on my doorstep and when my dad went to retrieve the mail, he started yelling for me and my mom to come see. The dove flew right to my father and perched right on his hand. He passed the dove to me as my mother was in awe, claiming it was a sign from God.
My parents were leaving the country that morning for Bermuda, and they were leaving me alone at home for 2 weeks. I didn’t know what to do with the dove, my dad begged me to keep it so at that time, I did not want him to see me let it go.
I ended up keeping it in the house for 3 days, and then decided to let it go… When I came back inside the house, I kept thanking God for sending me this sign, if in fact it was from God. I was also thinking that I wish I had kept it. I was kind of upset to let it go and right at that moment, I looked down at my feet and found one single feather. I was so happy, and then it occurred to me…this was ALL GOD! ALL OF IT! First my angel comes to comfort me, and although I did not realize it at first, here comes this dove, three days later…and it all made sense to me. After that, I stopped crying myself to sleep.
Although I am given these signs, which surely are signs of God, my problem is keeping the faith of receiving my healing! I know these things have happened to me, and I know GOD is in my life, but I want to believe so badly that he’ll heal my eyes. I pray for it, but it has yet to happen to me and I am currently searching for a good ministry and healing rooms.
I need to keep the faith! I don’t want to think that if God doesn’t heal me, it’s because it’s not meant to be. I want to believe that God heals everyone if they believe enough, but again, that’s my problem…I believe in God, and I believe in the holy spirit, I believe in miracles, but until I receive my own, it’s so hard to believe it will happen to me! I guess this is why it hasn’t happened yet…
If anyone has any words of wisdom for me, to help me receive my healing… please help. I know there may be people out there who need prayers more than I, but if you have the few minutes to pray for me, please do! I can’t live in the dark forever, I need a miracle!
Thank you for your time.
God Bless!
xoxo
And what if you are not healed in a year or five or ten? Will you give up on God? If you are only serving the Lord because you want healing, you probably won’t get it. But I pray that you do. With all my heart.
Melanie,
Know that I will definitely be praying for you. You might try going to a Christian church and seeing if they’ll get together and ask the Lord for your miracle there… I think sometimes God does miracles in ways that many can be witnesses.
On the other side, it might not be his will to heal your eyes. Remember this: Whenever we suffer, consider that you’re suffering as Christ did. In that way, maybe you’ll be blsssed by your ordeal, as it seems you already have been.
As the angel showed you – you’re not alone. We all suffer at times, in different ways.
I hope this helps… I’m sorry you’re in pain, but I will be thinking about you and praying for you, Melanie!
dear melanie, i really admire your faith. It is true that no one afflicted left Jesus without being healed. I said a prayer for you. God’s blessings
Thank you all for your support and prayers. I know that with faith, I will receive my healing. I don’t believe that God picks and chooses who he heals, I believe he heals everyone who calls on him. So again, thank you for your prayers. God Bless!
OUR FATHER IS ABLE TO DO ALL THINGS,
MelanieA
Here is my own testimony, I was suffering from UTI (Urine track infection) with all the research i made then on the internet it shows that there is know remedy to the problem, so i was demoralize everyday then, but there is one thing THAT OUR FATHER STIRED UP IN MY HEART, THAT IF I GET CLOSER TO OUR FATHER IT WILL BE REMOVED and i will be free for ever, i keep attending camp services until one day OUR FATHER HEALED ME THROUGH DREAM and i got my healing, i did something wrong again the problem came back. so one day OUR FATHER TOLD ME TO MAKE A VOW WHICH OUR FATHER HELPED ME TO OBEY for one Good year. That was how the problem vanish for life.
So i want to encourage you to please take a step of Faith and surrender all unto OUR FATHER and see WHAT OUR FATHER WILL DO FOR YOU. I PRAY OUR FATHER WILL GIVE YOU THE GRACE TO OBEY AND FOLLOW BY THE POWER THAT IS IN THE BLOOD OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST (AMEN). YOU ARE HEAL IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST (AMEN)
Dear Melanie,
I found it is a miracle for you to have your sickness healed, and your testimony served a good experience for faith loser ,like me. Your testimony had reminded me how God is good at blessing and healing. Thanks. God Bless
Dear Melanie,
God is willing and eager to heal you. There was no one who came to our Saviour Jesus in the Bible that went back the same! The Bible says He is the same yesterday ,today and forever…and I know there is nothing too hard for him to do.
Hold on to your belief, dont give up.
keep studying God’s word, even if it(your miracle) tarries wait for it for it will not tarry
Gloria
Hello beloved.. Boy, I got something for you sista. π Praise God I found this site. π
Please go to my website and you’ll find a few posts ago a free audiobook called Your Faith. All I ask in return is a review (not on content, but on the audio). This will greatly bless you. serious-things.com. The title of the post is something like “Free Audiobook”
Also, for healing, there is also a ministry I do work for. See wolicom.org and go into the “Word of God” section. You will see a series called something like “Why we often miss it”, it’s about healings. Start with part 1. You will be truly blessed by this Pastor and his audiobook. This pastor I help out is a great great man of faith. He has helped me get over injuries, car troubles, etc.
I’ll comment on one thing, you said “but it has yet to happen to me..” That’s a stopper and unbelief creeping in. It has happened in the spiritual realm, if you believe. It may not materialize right now, but it will if you do not waver in your faith. Regardless of what you experience with the senses of the flesh, believe unto the Lord that your prayer has been heard and it is answered in the heavenly realm. Believe in the things unseen, not the seen.
May the Lord bless you abundantly.

Fredrick made a very good point. I have watched a brother who was doing works, being as obedient as he could..and serving God. He was doing it for his healing. When the healing didn’t come, I saw him backslide, badly. He started to question God, the Word, healings, etc.
Praise God through much prayer and perseverance, he came through and confessed that he was doing it to get a blessing. That is soooooooo dangerous
Hi Melanie,
I am praying for you and God is no respector of persons, healing is for all! Just saturate yourself in the word…you have to have faith even if its as small as a mustard seed. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. I was healed was un incurable disease so I know God is still heals today. I found many resources that helped me in my faith namely savedhealed.com.
Keep the faith sister i know you are tired of hearing that but dont give up i know you ben waiting to long and are probaly loseing it but i belive if u dont give up in good times and bad times soon u will recive so i urge u please dont give up ther is no other way anyway let jesus be the doctor u need if u lose your faith than what forshure u wont get it so keep it up no mater how strestfull it can be and keep on praying and for others to thank him an advance for your healing claim it and hel do the rest be still and let god love u relax and let god take over god bless u sister i will pray 4 u 2 .
I wore contacts since the 7th grade I am now 29. I first got floaters or noticed them when I was like 23 or 24 I think. I thought my contact had something on it so i took them out and cleaned them and noticed it was still there after. I took them out again noticed it was still there with my contacts out. I have a few in both eyes, they can be annoying sometimes, they are a lot more noticeable when looking at a white or lightish colored object or background like paper or a computer screen. When I first found out I didn’t really freak out about, it’s completely natural, there is nothing you can do except risky surgeries. doctors say a lot of people actually have floaters and they don’t even know about it because they don’t fall into the direct line of sight. I have gotten somewhat use to them but that is really the only choice. I have no idea what caused it but I thought maybe tanning in a tanning bed might have influenced it. There is some non surgical things that may reduce the number of them like your diet and vitamins, however I have only read about it I have not tried it yet but it definitely wouldn’t hurt. Actually, now that I think about it I wonder if there would be a lightly grey tint contact lens you could wear that would probably make them not so obvious in the vision?
Although they are annoying its not the end of the world. they just make you that much more special
Hi Melanie,
Keep seeing yourself healed and you will experience your healing. it is God perfect will desire and hunger for everyone to be healed. I would recommed that you go through our website and study some of the healing articles and you will be strengthened.
Hi Melanie,
I have floaters too. I’ve had them as long as I can remember. They were small and fine, but I recently got new bigger, thicker, darker ones. My experience is something similar to yours, but far less intense. I got new contact lenses — something I didn’t “need.” I was fine wearing glasses, but I let vanity rule and thought looking better would give me self esteem. The contact lens didn’t interact well with my eyes combined with the solution the dr. gave me. I had eye inflammation trying to make the new contacts work — which is what I think set the new floaters off. (Inflammation can cause posterior vitreous detachment which leads to floaters). I should have discontinued the contact trial at the first sign of redness and gone back to my life as it was, being thankful for what blessings I already had. Woulda, shoulda but you know how that goes.
I sooooooo sympathize with you. I have been depressed and miserable for the last 2 months. I immediately prayed for you when I read your blog. Please pray for me too. Even when I pray, I feel that my faith wavers and I get angry when I wake and see the floaters are still there. I can’t say I believe, when what I really am is angry, can I?
In Matthew 9, Jesus healed the blind men
28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, Γ’β¬ΕDo you believe that I am able to do this?
“Yes, Lord,” they replied.
29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to youΒ;” 30 and their sight was restored.
So “According to your faith” is the key thing. And yes that’s the big, BIG step.
I also think God is fixing things in my life (see verse below). I’m a sinner like everyone else, and I believe He’s prompting me to work on areas of my life that I’ve neglected and fallen short on.
Job 5
17 “Blessed is the one whom God corrects;Β so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.” 18 For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal.
I will for sure post a loud praise when God chooses to heal me. Hang in there. You’re not alone. I’ll be praying for you.
Hey you should give me your number so we can pray and Maybe fast together I’m seeing floaters too.
i also see floaters caused by vitreous detachment and im also 22 years old.my floaters were caused by inflammation from wearing contact lenses witch i also completely regret.i was giving very poor advice from vision express who didnt pick up on the problem so i kept wearing contacts and developed floaters and flashes.i also have dry eyes from it witch is very painfull every day and i had to stop working as a carpenter.i developed tinnitus shortly after from stress and thats what led me to try and take my life.all this happend in 6 months and was just to much to deal with.i know one day i will recieve my healing its just keeping the faith.
I too am suffering from the ill effects of lasik surgery. I blamed myself for making such a stupid decision and became severly depressed. This experience has taught me that we need to trust God and he will bless us with his healing. He is an almighty and merciful God and all we have to do is believe. I will keep you in my prayers and hope we can both receive the healing we need. God Bless.
I see floaters too! It’s an awful feeling because no one seems to understand, they believe it’s just easy to ignore them. I wish there was a solution for them all I know that within time your brain would learn how to block them out and you would not be able to see it.. This just occurred to me like two weeks ago and I have a question for you guys… do you see floaters all the time or do they tend to appear randomly? I hope and pray this goes away for all of us. Just believe in God!
I know I’ve had floaters all my life but the last couple of years have been extreme anxiety and stress for me. The last tipping point was my grandma passing and me not dealing with it. I’m a Pastors son so I grew up in church and made my own decision when I was really young. Gods will is for us to be focused on him. So I think these things he does very much want to heal in us. But faith isn’t simply saying and praying something and hoping…. I think we have to move in the direction of accepting it will happen. And if other areas of your life start popping up in your head like maybe I shouldn’t be doing this sin or that sin…. It’s more than likely the holy spirit trying to help clean house. Take this time to get right with God and we will be healed. Start claiming that healing every day. Stay in tune with God because when it comes down to it he’s the only thing that matters on this earth.
I have recently developed horrible floaters in my right eye that I haven’t noticed before. So much so I wear sunglasses inside at work and wouldn’t dare going outside without em. Went to the eye doctor cause I convinced myself I was having a retinal detachment. Also side note stop reading stuff online π that’s not moving in faith lol. But I’ve had horrible floaters for about 2 weeks now and we can try to ignore them. It’s extremely extremely hard but the less you give them power over your life the better you start to get …. I’m trying my hardest to do this but it’s hard. Get a prayer chain going and get people to pray for ya! Also getting my eyes dilated by the eye doctor made mine disappear for about 8 hours it was awesome to not see them!!!! Anyone wants to talk I’ll be around
Anyone still on here that had success? Any floater diminish or go away? Or you got use to them? Or healed?
Joel, I have had certain types come and go over the years. I know it can be annoying. I read Mark 11:24 and prayed and am believing for healing.
Emory
Thanks for responding here! I’ve been praying also. I’ll keep you in mine as well. I’ve had them over the years and never really paid much attention to them but for whatever reason I had a decent amount show up in my right eye and straight to the eye doc I went …. After a week π and she of course told me my eye looked healthy but said a had a lot of vitreous floaters and said a few lenty looking ones. Said it could take months for them to die down. So here I am praying away and also taking some supplements to see if that seems to help. Sun glasses all the time isn’t that fun
I hear you Joel. Sounds familiar. I’ll pray for you as well.
Thank you so much! Trying to be proactive now and taking a lot of herbals that are great for the eyes! And of course praying π
Amen to that, Bro!
Emory
Have you found anything that seems to help? I went out and got a few different vitamins and herbals just recently and I know they say to give it some time to get in your system.
I know stress and anxiety definitely made them stand out a LOT worse too lol. About 3 days ago was my peak of stressing about it and then finally went in and got checked out so now it’s been trying to cope and figure out a way to make my day to day better
Joel, not any kind of natural solution or anything like that. I’ve noticed myself instinctively not wanting bright lights lots of sunshine. Yeah, I wonder if stress potentially causes it.
Emory
Are you saying you like getting lots of sunshine? Or sunshine is good for the eyes?
I’ve read that fish oil vitamin D vitamin C and taurine and bilberry is a good lot for the eyes and lutine also. Either way if it’s good for the eyes why not. If it’s a placebo affect for me then great lol. Also been pretty lazy and figured I’d get back into the gym to try and burn off some extra stress
Joel, I just am more aware of the problem in heavy sunshine. I have no idea if it’s good or bad although I suspect the latter because my eye doctor actually told me to always wear sunglasses when going out in the sun. My dermatologist told me to stay out of the sun.
Yeah I notice them way more in bright light and sun. Actually overcast skies seem to be worse too. It’s that getting use to it if that’s possible period. Oh well could be way worse so I’m thankful for that. Faith is fun to try and grasp now and that’s what I’m doing with praying lately and believing. Praying for you man!
Emory
Do you pretty much see them everyday all the time? I use to never notice or pay much attention to mine and I know my right eye got worse two weeks ago but now it’s like no matter where or when I have my floaters with me
Joel, I first noticed them when I was a little kid. They’ve changed a lot through the years. I have just become less aware of them as time goes on I suppose.
Emory
I know I’ve seen em for a while also. I just had a lot pop up recently that’s got me on edge I guess. Which is a shame for sure.
Joel, one thing I have noticed is that it’s always changing.
Yeah! I wondered if they are settling lower in my line of vision or if I’m just getting more… Glad to see you’re still on here! I believe stress definitely plays a role but man! Frustration
also if you don’t mind me asking how old are you? Do you deal with seasonal allergies real bad or not really? Nearsighted?
Early 50’s, nearsighted but no allergy issues.
Joel, great to see you here as well. Please keep us posted on how you’re doing.
I am 22 years old and am also having much anxiety and panic over eye floaters. I am pregnant with my 2nd child and they have recently gotten worse to where I am noticing them more than ever in my left eye. I am afraid to go out in the sunlight, to drive, to have the windows open in my house. I have paralyzing fear that these things won’t go away. I want to believe that God will heal me. Holding on to faith is literally the only thing keeping me together right now. I have panic attacks daily and feel like nobody understands what I’m going through since apparently this is an uncommon issue for people my age to have. I believe that maybe I have this issue to bring me closer to God. My floaters are not a direct result of any surgery they just randomly appeared one day at age 19. I don’t know what I did to get these things. I please ask anyone reading this to pray for me and healing and I will do the same for everyone else who has posted here.
Thank you
Still noticing your floaters? Got use to them? I realized it’s been a few months since I’ve been on. Stress definitely plays a vital role here. I got use to the idea of my floaters after being in here and talking / venting / praying.
I think I’ve recently had a new or or two pop up or just not sleeping enough and freaking out about them again …. Not fun for sure
Hey there,
This seems to be a normal issue in my family. I got them a long time ago but didn’t think anything about until the past year and half dealing with extreme anxiety- which makes us hypervigilant – super aware of our senses – aka your floaters. My younger bro who was 18 I think at the time noticed his. Mine of course worse when I was 30 this year. You can read back in March when I realized mine. I didn’t concern myself with them for a few months and now I’m anxious again
Hi, I too had severe eye floaters and flashes coming. But for me it was something impossible to get through it. I had undergone a barack laser but still it is not gone. But when I cry unto the Lord deliverance is like a Fire unto me. Trust me He is more powerful than any other man.
Anyone on still checking to see if any stories have changed?
Emory
Sorry I couldn’t respond anymore to that thread I guess but …
I think I had gotten use to my first onset of the floaters …. Or freshly noticed ones… Been a couple months since I had stumbled across the site. A few days ago for whatever reason I started to notice one more so and then started paying attention to every single one … Which I’m fairly certain I’ve got new ones or they seem to stick out more right now since I’m hyper aware of them. Either way hoping and continued prayer for some relief or healing since that seems to be the only answer with these pesky things.
Must of lost ya
I’m back. They can sort of mess with your head sometimes, I know what you mean.
Iβll keep praying for you Joel. Iβm standing on Mark 11:24. Pray for me as well please, thanks!
Thank you!! Yeah mine seemed to have gotten more noticeable this last week and popped up in places I haven’t seen before … Unfortunately I can see them while watching movies if it’s very bright back screen or a white room is the worst lol. “We have not cause we ask not” gotta make sure that’s not us
Emory
You say you’ve had em for a long time? Do you notice them no matter what type of lighting? Over the years you’ve become less aware of them or come to terms with them being there? For whatever reason they’ve got me down again… Just the onset of new ones joining the party I guess
Joel, I remember having them since I was a kid. They’ve always been less noticeable In low light – same with you?
Less noticeable yes. When I get paranoid about it I find myself only paying attention to them. And you’ll have to forgive me I just really started to stress about them this year. When outside I’m always wearing sunglasses and can still see them and there’s a few for sure. Since March they seemed to have changed a bit.
Emory
Going to bed late and saying my prayers for us!
Thanks Joel. Dittos. I’m praying and believing this morning as well.
How many would you say you have? When you go outside and look up at the sky or against a bright white wall… Look back and forth are there quite a few? Or maybe just one or two? Lol I’m trying to gauge where I stand compared to others
I really don’t know because I don’t dwell on them anymore. The scripture says that if I pray and ask and believe that I have received, it will be granted so I accept that and try and move on with life and let God work.
That’s good π I guess I didn’t see you post that until just now sorry for repeating … I wish I could let them go. I think they may stand out to much for me π thanks for your words tho
Stay strong and keep your faith growing Bro!
Trying for sure. Easy to get discouraged and focus on them when you walk outside and all you see is gray little specs floating around
Hey Emory just checking in. How you doing?
Hey Joel, all is well here. I appreciate you checking in. You?
Still at the stage of worry and obsession but trying to overcome
Could definitely use some prayers
Praying for you bro.
Seems like I’m noticing more in my right eye …. which is discouraging but thank you for the prayers…. definitely need them
Hey Emory how’s things going?
Hi Joel, all is well here. Not much new. How about you?
Can’t catch a break. Felt like I might start be doing better mentally with this new round of floaters and now I’m noticing them more in my right eye for sure and they are starting to stand out in my left π
So mentally worn out from it during the day… how many times over the years would you say yours have gotten worse or they’ve moved or changed? Pretty normal?
I don’t really know. I haven’t really thought about it and I don’t want to dwell on it too much. I pray that God gives you peace as in Phillipians 6 and 7.
Been a while. I’ve got to go in for a visual field test and another check up next Thursday. It’s more so for my ocular pressure. But going to being up floaters to my dr to see what she says. Could use the prayers tho …. always nervous going to see her
Praying for you Joel. Have a great visit and be at peace.
Eyes haven’t changed just the floaters being noticeable … boogers they are
Did the doctor give you any info?
Not with floaters no. They aren’t real concerned with them … but boy are they annoying
Hey Joel, just wondering how you are getting along. Hit me back some time please, thanks.
They actually got worse π
Sorry to hear that, Joel. Praying for you.
I appreciate it π been doing a lot of that lately and having church locally do the same … all we can do is ask π
Emory are you still dealing with yours ?
Joel, it hasn’t been bothering me much lately. I’m actually going to get checked for cataracts.
A friend of mine I met online recently got a FOV surgery for his floaters and had a great outcome. I know thereβs options out there for it itβs just nerve wracking to think about them cutting the jelly out of my eye … cataract surgery is pretty common.
This book helped me a lot in understanding God’s healing. I am not 100% healed but I feel much better day by day. I am confident I will be healed 100% soon. God bless you.

Praying for all above with these terrible, visible floaters .Healing in Jesus name for all.
I believe that Jesus will heal our eyes.I pray for you.
Melanie, Jesus ALREADY healed you. Isaiah prophesied it in Chapter 53:5 and Peter confirmed it in 1 Pet 2:24. All you have to do (though as you’ve said is not easy) is to have faith that you are healed and that’s how you will receive the physical manifestation of it. It is not suffering for Christ to be ill in ANY way and neither is it God’s will. How do I know? Just Google bible verses about healing. Even before Jesus came God offered SO many promises for healing. He’s always wanted His people healed from ALL and any diseases and once Jesus came He spiritually carried all diseases known or unknown to man on the cross and healed us (take note of the past tense). So now we only need to THANK him and say we are healed. What differs between individuals is that journey to building one’s faith. So build your faith according to how you know best but always including reading healing scriptures out loud for Faith comes by hearing the Word. All the best.
