Woman and Tunnel

“Do not Be Afraid, for I Am with You.”

There were multiple times when the verse Isaiah 41:10 has popped up in my life at the right time. I’ve been dealing with anxiety ever since I was in 3rd grade and was diagnosed with a mood disorder just two years ago. But still, throughout all of this, God reminded me of the verse Isaiah 41:10 NLT, which reads,

“Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be discouraged, for I am your God.”

From what I can remember, it started when I was 7 years old. We were adopting my cousins after a family issue, and on our way home from court, I was riddled with anxiety, about what my life was going to be like. We just so happened to be going through a tunnel, and keep in mind, we weren’t listening to a Christian channel on the radio. We were listening to country.

So, my mom and I prayed for peace, and as soon as we got out of the tunnel, the channel switched to a Christian channel, and it said the words,

“Do not be afraid, for I am with you.”

This wasn’t the only time though. During 2020, which, I’m sure everyone can agree that I was the worst time ever, I was having a massive depressive episode, and I wanted to end it all.

So, I tried.

But as I was heading out of the house at 12 am to go do it, the words, again said in my head,

“Do not be afraid, for I am with you.”

And that night, the Lord protected me. He made me feel comfort in the cold streets and made it so I was home safely.

Ever since my first Winterfest this year in January, I’ve been trying to serve the Lord with all of my heart, and trying to start anew, and to not let my past hold me down. I pray that you too get to feel the peace that I’ve felt for the past few months 🙂
