Good morning. May God bless each of you exceedingly and abundantly more than you can imagine. I know you all read and comment on my posts and I am so blessed to hear it helps people in a season of grief and sorrow. I want you all to know that I too live with loss. My husband of 50 years together took his last breath on July 8, 2022.
I unfortunately was grieving before he took his last breath. He battled COPD since 2015. He was intubated three times throughout the years. But the last two he was no longer driving and lived on a machine that was a life support system. He would sleep with it and get off a few hours a day. We talk and sit by the water reminiscing life together. He never once complained. I would say, how are you and he would say, I’m blessed.
The last six months were heart breaking watching him deteriorate. I was watching him daily along with my children and grandchildren. Even though I was prepared that he was not going to be with me it became reality when he lost his last breath. We were all by his side the last week. I want you to know I feel your pain, your loss, your heartache.
I tell people grief has no explanation date. It comes with a memory, a date, a song. Cry if you have to. Crying is part of the healing process for you. You go through stages of not wanting to eat, you can’t sleep. You wonder what your future will be and your head feels like it’s on overload. You isolate from people because you just don’t know how you’re going to get through. You go through the anger stage, and anxiety and many other things.
I’m sharing because many are at the beginning of grief. We all go through it and some still are. When my husband passed what helped me and still does is knowing he no longer is gasping for breathe to live. He is with the Lord living his best life. He has no worries, no sickness, no financial problems, just peace, tranquility and he is healed. That helps me.
Do I miss him? More than ever. However, we all have to unwrap the grave clothes we are wearing and dress up and get out. Smell the roses, look at the beautiful clouds. Go out and watch the sunsets and sunsets. I go all that. I drink my coffee with hazelnut coffee like I did with him for years. Small steps are big progress.
How and what helped me was when God told me I’m not just share the today’s word of my Facebook page but told me to join Grief Groups. At that time joined in a Grief Group did not seem like something I wanted to do. I joined 2 and I grieved all the more hearing how people have lost their spouse 10 and 15 years and still was experiencing a sinking in walk I call quicksand of hell.
However, that gave me purpose because when I began to share the today’s word in the groups, it began to uplift me when people said it was helping them and that’s how now close to be in five years in January has got me through each day. God gives us purpose. I want to encourage you all to know that when you impact love into others, you’ll feel the importation of God‘s love, filling you with his love that helps you overcome step-by-step day by day, staying stuck in the rock that you’re in right now.
I just wanted to share today that I’m not just anybody giving inspirational words to people. I’m somebody who struggles just like you do. My brother passed at the end of that same year. He was my biggest cheerleader from January to December. My brother and my husband were best friends.
Another thing that helps me through is knowing that they’re together living the best life. A year after my husband passed away. I had a bad fall. I am still overcoming that fall. It has made me feel like a bird in a cage so to speak. It has affected my balance. I’ve got over vertigo every single day, but with God, I shall overcome and press in and press on daily.
You can do this. Together we all are going through this if it worked for the Lord, his love, his grace and the word of God that helps me through daily. It is what makes me strong even in the mist of the challenges of life. Did you know that in the Bible 365 times it says do not fear? Look how good God is. He said it in the Bible from beginning to end, 365 times. I like to break things down and analyze things. 365 times means every day he is saying to you and me do not fear. If anything, I pray today that you find hope in knowing there is life still for you. Find your purpose. Emerge in your purpose, and it’ll help you through. May God bless you all and I pray that this helps you and to make it more personal. I’ll add my picture so it can be like we have a friendship together. God bless you all.
Love you
Diane
